Ahold Delhaize takes systems offline: supermarkets stay open
Since Sunday 11 October 2026 Ahold Delhaize, the group that owns Delhaize, Albert Heijn, Etos, Food Lion, Stop & Shop and other chains, has been handling a cyber incident. The group runs more than 9,400 stores across Europe, the United States and Indonesia.
What the company has confirmed
- There is “a security issue within its network”.
- Some systems were taken offline to protect them.
- Stores have stayed open.
- In Belgium Delhaize cannot use its internal supply system: for three days it has been supplying its supermarkets through an alternative process based on order volumes from previous weeks. Online orders are running at a reduced level.
What is still unknown
The company has not said exactly what happened, whether data was stolen or whether this is ransomware. As of 14 October no criminal group had claimed the attack.
